Affinity Media NE CIC is a Community Interest Company delivering community-focused broadcasting and creative engagement across the North East of England. We operate Affinity Radio, a not-for-profit community radio station serving South Shields, Tynemouth, Newcastle, and Gateshead.
Broadcasting from our state-of-the-art studios in Pelaw, Affinity Radio provides a trusted local voice for the region. Our programming includes great music, local news, community stories, and live coverage of major regional events such as the Great North Run, Armed Forces Day, South Tyneside Parade Day, EAT! Festival, and Tidal Trails. We broadcast on DAB Digital Radio, online, mobile devices, and smart speakers, ensuring our content is accessible to audiences wherever they are.
Beyond broadcasting, media workshops are facilitated and delivered by Mendes Management Ltd, a company specialising in performing arts, pantomime production, and alternative education provision.
Supported and promoted by Affinity Media NE CIC, Mendes Management Ltd delivers media workshops to young people across the North East. These sessions engage participants through schools, charities, local authorities, and alternative provision settings.
Our workshops provide hands-on experience in:
- Radio presenting and broadcasting
- Recording and studio production
- Interviewing and communication skills
- Podcasting and content creation
- Teamwork, confidence building, and self-expression
Through this work, we aim to develop skills, raise aspirations, improve confidence, and create pathways into media and the creative industries, while also supporting social, emotional and mental wellbeing.
